Oklahoma emergency responders honor fallen pilot, medic

A crowd of about 1,000 gathered at Crossings Community Church, Oklahoma City, to honor the lives and sacrifices of Ryan Duke, flight medic and nurse, and critical care pilot Al Harrison, who were killed July 22, in the crash of an EagleMed medical helicopter. The crash occured in a farm field near Kingfisher, Oklahoma. The cause is still unknown.

Nearly a dozen medical helicopters descended upon the lawn of the church prior to the service. Immediately thereafter, an EagleMed helicopter hovered to a quieted crowd for a full minute in the air before landing. Dozens of emergency response vehicles from towns and cities across Oklahoma crowded the parking lot. ACOG representatives in attendance said the service lasted three hours and included numerous guest speakers including children of the fallen.

RIP Ryan and Al. You will be missed by your EMS/Fire/Police family.
